Regulations on Marine Environment Monitoring and Monitoring Station Installation Article 3
The competent authorities should conduct the marine environment water quality monitoring task for the following items according to the characteristics of different marine environments:1. Monitoring Items (required):(1) Marine hydrology, water temperature,(2) Marine water quality, including salinity, hydrogen ion concentration index (pH value), dissolved oxygen (DO),(3) Other items designated by the central competent authority.2. Monitoring Items (optional):(1) Marine hydrology, including flow velocity, flow direction, wave height, wave direction, and wave period.(2) Marine water quality, including suspended solids (SS), light intensity in water, chlorophyll a, coliform group, heavy metals, nutrient salts (nitrate nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, phosphate, silicate, and total phosphorus), biochemical oxygen demand, mineral oil, cyanide, phenols, volatile organic compounds, pesticides.(3) Marine organisms, including plankton(zooplankton and phytoplankton) and benthic organisms.

主管機關應視海域特性，辦理下列項目之海域環境水質監測作業：

（三）其他經中央主管機關指定之項目。
二、選擇監測項目：
（一）海域水文：流速、流向、波高、波向、波浪週期。
（二）海域水質：懸浮固體（SS）、水中光強度、葉綠素a、大腸桿菌群、重金屬、營養鹽（硝酸鹽氮、亞硝酸鹽氮、氨氮、磷酸鹽、矽酸鹽、總磷）、生化需氧量、礦物性油脂、氰化物、酚類、揮發性有機物、農藥。
（三）海域生物：浮游生物（動物性浮游生物及植物性浮游生物）、底棲生物。
一、應監測項目：
（一）海域水文：水溫。
（二）海域水質：鹽度、氫離子濃度指數（pH）、溶氧量（DO）。
（三）其他經中央主管機關指定之項目。
二、選擇監測項目：
（一）海域水文：流速、流向、波高、波向、波浪週期。
（二）海域水質：懸浮固體（SS）、水中光強度、葉綠素a、大腸桿菌群、重金屬、營養鹽（硝酸鹽氮、亞硝酸鹽氮、氨氮、磷酸鹽、矽酸鹽、總磷）、生化需氧量、礦物性油脂、氰化物、酚類、揮發性有機物、農藥。
