The Law of Ships Article 27
Under any one of the following conditions, ship owners shall apply to the shipping administration authority at the port of calling for an additional inspection:1. The ship suffers from a marine casualty.2. The hull, machinery or equipment is in danger of tampering with navigation, personal safety or environmental pollution.3. The ship's seaworthiness is in doubt.After passing the additional inspection, the ship shall get a note on the Ship Inspection Certificate from the shipping administration authority.

船舶有下列情形之一者，其所有人應向所在地航政機關申請施行船舶臨時檢查：
一、遭遇海難。
二、船身、機器或設備有影響船舶航行、人命安全或環境污染之虞。
三、適航性發生疑義。
船舶經臨時檢查合格後，航政機關應於船舶檢查證書上註明。
