Teacher Education Act Article 3
The terms used in this Act are defined as follows:1.Teacher Education: the education and training of professional teachers, including Pre-service Teacher Education, Practical Education Training, and In-service Training for Teachers.2.Universities offering teacher training programs, hereinafter as “Teacher Education Universities”: normal universities, universities of education, universities with teacher education-related departments, or Teacher Education Centers.3.Pre-service Teacher Education Courses: all related courses accepted in accordance with this Act before taking a Teacher Qualification Examination, including general courses, Professional Education Courses, and specialization courses.4.General courses: the courses developing teachers' broad sense of the humanities and aspirations for an educational career.5.Professional Education Courses: education credit courses to equip teachers with the teaching knowledge and skills needed by a qualified teacher in their subject area(s).6.Area of specialization courses: courses designed to equip teachers with specialized knowledge and skills in teaching particular subjects, disciplines, and specialized fields.

本法用詞，定義如下：
一、師資培育：指專業教師之培養，包括師資職前教育、教育實習及教師在職進修。
二、師資培育之大學：指師範大學、教育大學、設有師資培育相關學系或師資培育中心之大學。
三、師資職前教育課程：指參加教師資格考試前，依本法所接受之各項有關課程，包括普通課程、教育專業課程及專門課程。
四、普通課程：為培育教師人文博雅及教育志業精神之共同課程。
五、教育專業課程：為培育教師依師資類科所需教育知能之教育學分課程。
六、專門課程：為培育教師任教學科、領域、群科專長之專門知能課程。
