Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Compatriot Students in Taiwan Article 23

An overseas compatriot student who has graduated, or has discontinued or suspended their studies for the maximum allowable period, and who is not continuing to pursue studies will lose their status as an overseas compatriot student. However, an overseas compatriot student who has just graduated from a university in Taiwan and been given approval by the central competent education administrative authority to do an internship through their university may extend their overseas compatriot student status for a maximum period of one year after graduation, after which time their student status will be cancelled.An overseas compatriot student whose student status has been cancelled will have their overseas compatriot student status reinstated if they resume their studies at a higher level, transfer to another educational institution, or resume studies that they had discontinued.
