Judges Act Article 82
For every consecutive service of seven years, a tenured judge may submit a concrete research plan to the Judicial Yuan to apply for a one-year self-studies and receive full compensation during the period of studies. A research report shall be submitted to the Judicial Yuan for review after six months of the studies.The number of self-studied personnel referred to in the preceding paragraph shall not exceed seven percent of the number of judges of that year at the respective agency, provided, however, that the number shall be rounded up to the next one if the number is less than one.

實任法官每連續服務滿七年者，得提出具體研究計畫，向司法院申請自行進修一年，進修期間支領全額薪給，期滿六個月內應提出研究報告送請司法院審核。
前項自行進修之人數，以不超過當年度各該機關法官人數百分之七為限。
