Regulations Governing Permission for Establishment of Branch Units and Subsidiaries in Hong Kong and Macau by Taiwan-area Insurance Institutions Article 2
The term “Competent Authority” as used in these Regulations means the Financial Supervisory Commission.The term “insurance institution” as used in these Regulations means insurance enterprises, insurance agent companies, insurance broker companies and insurance surveyor companies.The term "branch unit" as used in these Regulations includes representative offices and branch offices; the term "subsidiary" as used in these Regulations means an entity having any of the situations below:1. A company in which a Taiwan-area insurance institution directly or indirectly holds 50 percent or more of its total outstanding voting shares or total capital stock; or2. A company in which a Taiwan-area insurance institution directly or indirectly controls its personnel, financial or business operations.

本辦法所稱之主管機關為金融監督管理委員會。
本辦法所稱保險機構，指保險業、保險代理人公司、保險經紀人公司及保險公證人公司。
本辦法所稱分支機構，包括代表人辦事處及分公司；所稱子公司，指有下列情形之一者：
一、臺灣地區保險機構直接或間接持有已發行有表決權股份總數或資本總額超過百分之五十之公司。
二、臺灣地區保險機構直接或間接控制人事、財務或業務經營之公司。
本辦法所稱保險機構，指保險業、保險代理人公司、保險經紀人公司及保險公證人公司。
本辦法所稱分支機構，包括代表人辦事處及分公司；所稱子公司，指有下列情形之一者：
一、臺灣地區保險機構直接或間接持有已發行有表決權股份總數或資本總額超過百分之五十之公司。
二、臺灣地區保險機構直接或間接控制人事、財務或業務經營之公司。
