Negotiable Instruments Act Article 85
If a bill is dishonored by non-payment at its maturity, the holder, after performing all acts necessary to the exercise and preservation of their rights on the bill, is entitled to exercise their right of recourse against the endorser, the drawer, and any other person liable for the bill.In any of the following situations, the holder may exercise their right of recourse even before the maturity of the bill:1. The bill is dishonored by non-acceptance.2. Presentment for acceptance or payment is rendered impossible by death or absconding of the drawee or the acceptor or by some other cause.3. The drawee or the acceptor has been adjudicated bankrupt.

匯票到期不獲付款時，執票人於行使或保全匯票上權利之行為後，對於背書人、發票人及匯票上其他債務人得行使追索權。
有左列情形之一者，雖在到期日前，執票人亦得行使前項權利：
一、匯票不獲承兌時。
二、付款人或承兌人死亡、逃避或其他原因無從為承兌或付款提示時。
三、付款人或承兌人受破產宣告時。
