The records were damaged due to natural disasters or accidents and are deemed irreparable after appraisal, the government agencies shall submit a report detailing the reason and the file numbers, file names, quantity of destroyed records and other details to the central archives competent authority for reference, and then the records may be destroyed.When records are damaged or lost due to a natural disaster or an unforeseen event, the government agencies shall submit a report detailing the reason, time, place, scope and quantity of the lost records, and other related information and supporting documents, to the central archives competent authority for its reference.

檔案因天災或事故毀損，經鑑定結果認無法修復者，各機關得將其原因及已毀損檔案之檔號、案名及數量等詳細情形，函送檔案中央主管機關備查後銷毀。
檔案因天災或事故滅失者，各機關應將其原因、時間、地點、滅失檔案之範圍、數量等相關說明及佐證資料，函送檔案中央主管機關備查。
