Prison Act Article 18
To encourage inmates with more than six months of sentence to reform and cultivate their skills for adapting to social life, their treatment shall be classified into several stages and implemented progressively. However, the progressive treatment may be temporarily suspended due to physical or mental conditions or other reasons that render the treatment unsuitable.The progressive treatment matters and methods shall be stipulated in a separate legislation.

對於刑期六月以上之受刑人，為促使其改悔向上，培養其適應社會生活之能力，其處遇應分為數個階段，以累進方法為之。
但因身心狀況或其他事由認為不適宜者，得暫緩適用累進處遇。
