Immigration Act Article 70
Where the National Immigration Agency receives cases on applications for visits, residence, permanent residence or registered permanent residence in the Taiwan Area from applicants, may send its staff to investigate the domicile (place of residence) of the applicant in the Taiwan area if deemed necessary.The person under an investigation shall be notified of the investigation provided under the preceding Paragraph before the investigation is carried out.The investigation provided under the preceding Paragraph shall not be carried out in the evening. This provision shall not apply if one of the following circumstances occurs:1. The person under the investigation, residents of the domicile or people who can be representatives of the foresaid people agree to the execution of the investigation in the evening.2. The investigation starts during the day; after the consent of the person under the investigation, the investigation can be continued to the evening.

移民署受理申請在臺灣地區停留、居留、永久居留或定居之案件，於必要時，得派員至申請人在臺灣地區之住（居）所，進行查察。
前項所定查察，應於執行前告知受查察人。
受查察人無正當理由，不得規避、妨礙或拒絕。
前項所定查察，不得於夜間行之。
但有下列情形之一者，不在此限：
一、經該受查察人、住（居）所之住居人或可為其代表之人承諾。
二、日間已開始查察者，經受查察人同意，得繼續至夜間。
前項所定查察，應於執行前告知受查察人。
受查察人無正當理由，不得規避、妨礙或拒絕。
前項所定查察，不得於夜間行之。
但有下列情形之一者，不在此限：
一、經該受查察人、住（居）所之住居人或可為其代表之人承諾。
