Organization Act of the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, Ministry of Economic Affairs Article 2
The jurisdiction of BSMI covers the followings:1. Development of plans and regulations related to standards, commodity inspection, metrology and consumer product safety.2. Research, development, amendment, confirmation, rescission, implementation, promotion and services of national standards.3. Inspection technology and administrative management of industrial and commercial products that are domestically produced and sold, as well as those exported and imported.4. Research, establishment, maintenance, services as well as unified implementation and management of measurement standards.5. Legal metrology management, as well as research, development and application of metrology technology.6. Establishment, implementation and management of an accreditation environment, various management systems, and conformity assessment systems for commodities in line with international standards.7. Planning and promotion of commodity labeling and consumer product safety activities.8. International cooperation on standards, commodity inspection, metrology and consumer product safety.9. Other matters related to standards, commodity inspection, metrology and consumer product safety.

四、度量衡標準之研究、建立、維持、保管、服務、劃一之實施及管理。
五、法定度量衡管理及度量衡技術研發應用。
六、符合國際規範認證環境、各類管理系統與商品符合性評鑑制度之建立、推行及管理。
七、商品標示、消費品安全業務之研擬及推動。
八、標準、商品檢驗、度量衡及消費品安全之國際合作。
九、其他有關標準、商品檢驗、度量衡及消費品安全事項。
