A defense attorney shall be a lawyer, provided that if permission is obtained from the presiding judge at trial, a person who is not a lawyer may be retained as a defense attorney.Note: Articles 1 through 343 were amended lastly on February 6, 2003.

辯護人應選任律師充之。
但審判中經審判長許可者，亦得選任非律師為辯護人。
