If an accused fails to appear in court on the trial date, the trial may not proceed unless otherwise specially provided.If a case is one in which an agent may be authorized to appear for the accused before a court, such agent may appear in place of the accused.Note: Articles 1 through 343 were amended lastly on February 6, 2003.

審判期日，除有特別規定外，被告不到庭者，不得審判。
許被告用代理人之案件，得由代理人到庭。
