Regulations Governing Higher Education Subsidies, Living Allowances and Awards for Veterans Article 8
The amount and the quota of the study assistance, living allowances and subsidies prescribed in these regulations shall be determined and announced by VAC.In the event that the tuition and miscellaneous expenses are less than the assistance amount referred to in the preceding paragraph, the assistance provided will be the actual amount paid to the institution. Should an applicant receive a military pension, assistance will be half of the tuition and miscellaneous expenses paid.Living allowances are granted through the following methods:1.Domestic study: for applications made within the time specified in the first subparagraph of second paragraph of the preceding article, living allowances for study will be issued monthly in accordance with the months evidenced as a mid-to-low (low) income household, starting from the first month of the academic period to which the application applies. For applications after the application period, allowances will be issued the month the application is made.2.Overseas study: for applications made within the time specified in the second subparagraph of second paragraph of the preceding article, living allowances for study will be issued once only for the entire semester in accordance with the months evidenced as a mid-to-low (low) income household.

本辦法各項就學補助、生活津貼及獎勵核發之區分、金額、名額及其他相關事項，由輔導會訂定並公告之。
申請就學補助，實際繳交學雜費未達前項公告補助金額者，覈實補助；其為支領軍人退休俸者，補助其實際繳交學雜費之半數。
就學生活津貼核發方式如下：
一、國內就學：未逾前條第二項第一款規定申請期限者，自申請當學期之始月份起，按符合中低（低）收入戶資格期間，逐月核發就學生活津貼；其逾申請期限者，自申請當月起核發。
二、國外就學：未逾前條第二項第二款規定申請期限者，按符合中低（低）收入戶資格期間，一次核發當學期就學生活津貼。
