Regulations on Marine Environment Monitoring and Monitoring Station Installation Article 5
The frequency of water quality monitoring (testing) of marine environment and in port areas shall be once every quarter, and the frequency of sediment testing in port areas shall be once every year. However, in the event of a marine pollution emergency, competent authorities shall conduct monitoring (testing) in accordance with the contingency plan stipulated in Paragraph 2, Article 10 of this Act.If the water quality in a port area meets the marine environmental quality standards for the protection of the living environment in Classification A waters for three consecutive years, the frequency of sediment testing in the port area may be adjusted to at least once every five years.

海域環境及港區水質監（檢）測頻率為每季一次，港區底泥檢測頻率為每年一次。
但發生海洋污染緊急事件時，主管機關應依本法第十條第二項所定緊急應變計畫辦理監（檢）測。
港區水質連續三年檢測結果皆符合甲類海域保護生活環境之海洋環境品質標準者，得調整其港區底泥檢測頻率為至少每五年一次。
