Act for Establishment of National Institutes Of Applied Research Article 7
NIAR shall have a board of directors to be composed of eleven (11) to seventeen (17) directors, all of whom shall be appointed by the Premier of the Executive Yuan from among the following persons, and one of whom shall be the chairman of NIAR:1. Minister of the National Science Council and heads of other relevant government agencies; and2. Foreign and domestic experts and scholars specialized in disciplines of science and technology with profound experience in research work.All directors shall serve for a term of three (3) years and shall be eligible for re-appointment. The number of directors appointed under Subparagraph 1 of the preceding paragraph shall not exceed one-third of the total number of directors of NIAR, and each shall be appointed, removed or replaced respectively as he/she may be qualified or disqualified on account of his official position. In case any of the directors appointed under Subparagraph 2 of the preceding paragraph shall fall vacant before expiration of his term, a replacement director shall be appointed by the Premier of the Executive Yuan to serve for the remaining term of the director so replaced.

本院設董事會，置董事十一人至十七人，均由行政院院長就下列人員遴聘之，並以其中一人為董事長：
一、行政院國家科學委員會主任委員及其他有關機關首長。
二、國內、外富有研究經驗之科學技術有關專家、學者。
董事任期三年，期滿得續聘之；依前項第一款遴聘之董事人數不得超過董事總數三分之一，並依職位任免改聘；依前項第二款遴聘之董事任滿前出缺者，由行政院院長補聘之；其聘期至補滿原任者之任期為止。
