RTI shall be responsible for:Foreign broadcast of news and information, crafting a new image of the nation, creating a correct impression of the Republic of China among foreigners, and creating a stronger affinity amongst overseas compatriots for their ancestral homeland.Broadcast to mainland China of news and information that serves to increase cross-strait communication and understanding.

本臺之任務如下：
一、對國外地區傳播新聞及資訊，樹立國家新形象，促進國際人士對我國之正確認知，及加強華僑對祖國之向心力。
二、對大陸地區傳播新聞及資訊，增進大陸地區對臺灣地區之溝通與瞭解。
