National Pension Act Article 18-1

The insurance benefits under this Act, except applications for old age pension payment, shall be issued monthly starting from the month of meeting the qualifications to the month when the insured person dies. Other pension payments shall be issued monthly, starting from the month of the application approved to the month of pension termination or death of the insured person.If the surviving family pension payment does not apply during the month it becomes eligible, the insurer shall retroactively provide payment for up to five years prior to the application date, in accordance with the law. However, this does not apply to portions already claimed by other beneficiaries.
