Regulations Governing the Production and Issuance of the National Health Insurance Card and Data Storage and Access Article 13
Where any of the following circumstances occur, a beneficiary may update his or her NHI Card data by using card reader equipment installed by the Insurer or update the data with the assistance of a contracted medical care institution when obtaining medical treatment:1. Complete enrollment in insurance coverage or reinstate insurance coverage;2. The beneficiary acquires or loses the status of a low-income household member, veteran, household representative of survivors of veterans;3. Upon notification by the Insurer to obtain, revoke, or terminate a certificate of major illness;4. The registration and change of organ donation or hospice palliative care;5. The cause of the restrictions referred to in the preceding Article ceases to exist;6. The Insurer revokes the annotations for medical supervision; or7. Any other medical need that is recorded.

保險對象有下列情形之一者，得至保險人設置之讀卡設備，更新健保卡存放之資料，或於就醫時，由保險醫事服務機構協助完成資料更新：
一、完成投保或恢復投保。
二、取得或喪失低收入戶成員、榮民或榮民遺眷之家戶代表資格。
三、經保險人通知，取得、撤銷或廢止重大傷病證明。
四、器官捐贈、安寧緩和醫療之註記及變更。
五、前條控管原因消失。
六、經保險人註銷就醫輔導之註記。
七、其他就醫需要之註記。
一、完成投保或恢復投保。
二、取得或喪失低收入戶成員、榮民或榮民遺眷之家戶代表資格。
三、經保險人通知，取得、撤銷或廢止重大傷病證明。
四、器官捐贈、安寧緩和醫療之註記及變更。
五、前條控管原因消失。
