National Health Insurance Act Article 56
The beneficiary shall apply for reimbursement of self-advanced medical expenses according to the preceding article in the following deadlines:1. Beneficiary under Subparagraphs 1, 2, or 4 must apply for reimbursement of medical expenses within six months from the day of emergency treatment, outpatient treatment, or discharge from the hospital. After the deadline, no application will be accepted. Sailors on an ocean-going fishing ship shall apply for reimbursement within six months from the date they come back from the sea.2. Beneficiary under Subparagraph 3 shall apply for reimbursement within six months from the day relevant expenses are paid in full; this is applicable for cases within the last five years.3. Beneficiary under Subparagraph 5 shall apply for reimbursement before June 30 of the following year.The Competent Authority shall determine the documents required of beneficiary applying for reimbursement of self-advanced medical expenses, reimbursement standards and procedures, and other relevant matters.

保險對象依前條規定申請核退自墊醫療費用，應於下列期限內為之：
一、依第一款、第二款或第四款規定申請者，為門診、急診治療當日或出院之日起六個月內。
但出海作業之船員，為返國入境之日起六個月內。
二、依第三款規定申請者，為繳清相關費用之日起六個月內，並以最近五年發生者為限。
三、依第五款規定申請者，為次年六月三十日前。
保險對象申請核退自墊醫療費用應檢具之證明文件、核退基準與核退程序及其他應遵行事項之辦法，由主管機關定之。
一、依第一款、第二款或第四款規定申請者，為門診、急診治療當日或出院之日起六個月內。
