The Law of Ships Article 47
The owner of a ship shall apply to the shipping administration authority at the port of calling for the assignment of load lines and the issue of a load line certificate for the ship.The load line certificate of a ship is valid for 5 years. The ship owner shall apply for special inspection before expiry for renewal of the certificate.

船舶所有人應向船舶所在地航政機關申請勘劃載重線後，由該機關核發船舶載重線證書。
船舶載重線證書有效期間，以五年為限；船舶所有人應於期滿前重行申請特別檢查，並換領證書。
