The Law of Ships Article 10-1
Non-R.O.C. flag ships navigating or anchoring within the waters inside the outer limits of the territorial sea of the Republic of China or the prohibited waters of the Taiwan Area shall be marked on the hull with the following signs:1. Name of the ship.2. The IMO identification number; provided that this requirement shall not apply to ships that are not required to have such a number in accordance with the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).The markings referred to in the preceding paragraph shall be accurately displayed and shall not be defaced, altered, or obscured.

非中華民國船舶於中華民國領海外界線以內水域或臺灣地區禁止水域航行或錨泊時，船身應具備下列標誌：
一、船名。
二、國際海事組織船舶識別編號。
但依海上人命安全國際公約規定無須具備者，不在此限。
前項標誌應為正確標示，並不得毀壞、塗改或隱蔽。
