The highway competent authority shall pay attention to the landscape, beautification, and soil and water conservation for the highway under its custody. All local governments are allowed to plant sidewalk trees and ornamental plants or site architectural improvements, as well as in charge of relevant maintenance after approval received from the highway competent authority; the plants or site locations shall make no interference to the original function of the highway.The planting of sidewalk trees and ornamental plants mentioned in the preceding paragraph shall take native species as the priority for planting.

公路主管機關對於所管轄之公路，應重視景觀、力求美化，並注重水土保持。
地方政府得經公路主管機關之同意，種植行道樹、花木或設置景觀設施，並負責養護；其種植或設置位置，不得妨礙公路原有效用。
前項行道樹、花木種植應以原生種為優先。
