Organization Act of the Freeway Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications Article 2
The Bureau shall take charge of the following matters:(1)Long-term planning and R&D of the road network of national highways, and the planning for relevant construction facilities and traffic control smart transportation systems.(2)The design of new construction, expansion, and maintenance construction, budget preparation, management of project contracting, construction, and occupational safety and health, and the formulation of technical specifications.(3)Cadastral investigations, measurement, valuation, negotiation, removal, and compensation for the acquisition of land for national highways and the management of public facilities and property rights.(4)Traffic management and driving safety maintenance for national highways.(5)Collection of tolls for national highways.(6)Operation management of roadside facilities on national highways.(7)Tidying and maintenance of environments along national highways.(8)Preparation, keeping, and utilization of land for national highways, houses, and other properties, and disposal of properties.(9)Constructions handed down by superior agencies or assigned by other agencies.(10)Other business items related to national highways.

一、國道路網之長程規劃、研究發展與相關工程設施及交通控制智慧型運輸系統之規劃。
二、國道新建、拓建、養護工程之設計與預算之編擬及工程發包、施工、職業安全衛生之管理及技術規範之研訂。
三、國道用地取得之相關地籍調查、測量、估價、協調、拆遷、補償、公共設施及產權管理。
四、國道之交通管理及行車安全維護。
五、國道通行費之徵收。
六、國道路邊設施之營運管理。
七、國道沿線環境之整理及維護。
八、國道用地、房屋與其他財物之備置、保管、運用及財物處理。
九、上級機關交辦或其他機關委託辦理之工程。
十、其他有關國道業務事項。
