Civil Code Article 720

The maker of a security payable to bearer is bound to make the prestation to the person who presents it. However, he shall not make such prestation if he knows that the bearer is not entitled to dispose of the securities, or if he has been notified of the loss, stolen or destruction of the same.The maker is released from his obligation if he has performed according to the provisions of the preceding paragraph, even if the bearer was not entitled to dispose of the securities.

無記名證券發行人，於持有人提示證券時，有為給付之義務。
但知持有人就證券無處分之權利或受有遺失被盜或滅失之通知者，不得為給付。
發行人依前項規定已為給付者，雖持有人就證券無處分之權利，亦免其債務。
