The difference of Rank Appointment of the Arm Forces Officers is as follows:1 - Appointment : Refers to the confirmation of the identification of first appointment of a Military Officer.2 - Promotion : Refers to the Promotion of an Officer to the Next Rank.3 - Transfer : Refers to Transferring from one Military Branch or Officer's Rank to another Military Branch or Officer's Rank.4 - Evaluate : Refers to an Appointment to a certain Rank basing on the position, educational attainment and experience as recommended.

軍官、士官任官之區分如左：
一、初任：指初次任官確定軍官、士官之身分而言。
二、晉任：指晉任上階官階而言。
三、轉任：指此一軍種或官科轉入他軍種或官科而言。
四、敘任：指依其擬任職務，核其學、經歷，任以相當之官階而言。
