Police Personnel Management Act Article 40-1
Graduates of the Central Police University (Central Police College) who enrolled before 1998 or the Taiwan Police College (Taiwan Police Academy) who enrolled before 1999, who have not met the requirements for appointment may be paid temporarily at the same level as Police Sergeants and carry out their duties under the supervision of appointed police officers.Regulations governing the duties, appointments, dismissal, and transfers, rewards, punishment, and performance evaluation, salary, retirement benefits and compensation, and other relevant matters for personnel temporarily paid at the same level as Police Sergeants in accordance with the preceding Paragraph shall be formulated by the Ministry of the Interior.The preceding Paragraph also applies mutatis mutandis to personnel who had been hired and paid at the same level as Police Sergeants in accordance with relevant laws before the amended articles of this Act came into force on June 15, 2007.

中華民國八十七年以前入學之警察大學、警官學校學生，或中華民國八十八年以前入學之警察專科學校、警察學校學生，畢業後未取得任官資格者，得暫支領警佐待遇，於警察官監督下，協助執行勤務。
前項暫支領警佐待遇人員之勤務、任免遷調、獎懲考成、薪給、退休撫卹及其他相關事項之辦法，由內政部定之。
本條例中華民國九十六年六月十五日修正之條文施行前，經依有關法令進用之其他現職警佐待遇人員，準用前項辦法。
