National Police Agency Organization Act, Ministry of the Interior Article 2
The Agency is in charge of national police functions and shall:1. Plan and implement police organizational structures, personnel affairs, education, uniforms, duties, logistics system, the exercise of police authority, and other police legal systems.2. Plan and implement provisions to ensure public security, the protection of the national leadership, preparedness for emergencies, and the handling of important and urgent cases.3. Plan and implement assistance in criminal investigations, the handling of security cases involving foreigners, international police cooperation, and the assistance for transnational crime investigations.4. Plan and implement security checks on border entry/exit and on civil aviation aircraft entering, leaving or flying within the national territory, as well as their crew, passengers and cargo.5. Plan and supervise police reserve forces for maintaining public order; the safeguarding of assemblies and processions; the control of firearms, ammunition and knives; the control of self-defense guns, and civil defense.6. Plan and supervise crime prevention efforts, crackdowns on organized crime, protection of the safety of women and children, searches for missing persons, and the maintenance of social order.7. Plan and supervise the regulation of pawnshops and security guard businesses.8. Plan and supervise the maintenance of traffic safety, regulation of traffic flows, handling of traffic accidents, and assistance for traffic safety awareness campaigns.9. Plan and supervise police information operations, information (telecommunications) security, forensic technology, and electronic surveillance.10. Coordinate, plan and supervise public security and public security investigations.11. Plan and supervise police-citizen liaison, police public relations, police administration publicity, and police-citizen cooperation organizations.12. Supervise police duty operations, and police conduct and disciplinary inspections and evaluations.13. Coordinate disaster preparedness, response and civil defense matters.14. Supervise, coordinate and promote the Agency’s subordinate institutions, including the Taiwan Police College, Police Telecommunications Office, Civil Defense Office, Police Equipment Maintenance Plant, and Police Broadcasting Service.15. Engage in other police administrative matters.Orders given to exercise command and supervision as prescribed in the preceding article shall be issued in writing, when necessary they may be issued verbally.

二、警衛安全、拱衛中樞、準備應變及重大、緊急案件處理之規劃、執行。
三、協助偵查犯罪、涉外治安處理、國際警察合作及跨國犯罪案件協助查緝之規劃、執行。
四、入出國與飛行境內民用航空器及其載運人員、物品安全檢查之規劃、執行。
五、警備治安、保障集會遊行、槍砲彈藥刀械管制、自衛槍枝管理及民防之規劃、督導。
六、預防犯罪、檢肅組織犯罪、保障婦幼安全、失蹤人口查尋及維護社會秩序事件之規劃、督導。
七、當舖業及保全業管理之規劃、督導。
八、交通安全維護、交通秩序整理、交通事故處理及協助交通安全宣導之規劃、督導。
九、警察資訊作業、資（通）訊安全及鑑識科技、通訊監察之規劃、督導。
十、社會保防與社會治安調查之協調、規劃及督導。
十一、警民聯繫、警察公共關係、警政宣導及警民合作組織之規劃、督導。
十二、警察勤（業）務督導及警察風紀督察考核。
十三、配合辦理災害整備、應變與民防有關之事項。
十四、所屬臺灣警察專科學校、警察通訊、民防防情指揮管制、警察機械修理及警察廣播電臺機構之督導、協調及推動。
十五、其他警政事項。
前條指揮、監督之命令，應以書面行之；必要時，得以言詞行之。
